How we are.

We are one of the leading Drupal agencies in the German-speaking region, with over 15 years of experience. Together with our clients, we develop sustainable IT systems (products and platforms), meaning: We consider the "big picture" from the very beginning and build an IT infrastructure that is scalable as needed. This way, we avoid patchwork solutions and are efficient at all times. Our solution approach is the use of a technology and a central design system. Drupal!

Overall concept – instead of patchwork

In the spirit of a sustainable overall IT concept, we are building an infrastructure that flexibly integrates current and future requirements.

We are not relying on existing modular systems, but rather building them ourselves – 100% tailor-made.

The key is the use of a central technology and a design system that connects everything. Drupal!

System Mix – Instead of "either/or"

Headless, DXP, ... are not an "either/or" for us, but integrated components of an overall concept.

We do not rely on one system for all individual requirements, but consider each requirement individually.

As a result, we combine the most optimal systems or components into a CMS. Based on Drupal!

Scaling – instead of "everything that goes"

While we always keep the "Big Picture" in mind, we strive to keep our active system as lean and performant as possible.

With our flexible CMS, we have all the possibilities and continuously evaluate which components and systems are sensible and, above all, efficient for each moment.

In a modular approach, we can integrate various components flexibly, or not (yet). Thanks to Drupal!

History

Over 20 years of substantial growth define us.

Chapter 1

keytec was founded in 2000 by Christian Wiedemann and Patrick Konstantin.

Initially primarily working for SIEMENS AG, keytec quickly gained numerous medium-sized clients from the Munich area. For them, keytec, as a digital full-service agency, implemented microsites, intranet systems, and browser games.

At the same time, keytec pioneered in the field of content management systems, newsletter systems, and web analysis tools.

Innovative developments and products emerged—among others for Messe München GmbH—that to this day form the basis of globally used state-of-the-art applications.

Chapter 2

In 2007, keytec moved to Munich and transitioned into a Drupal agency.

The specialization in the powerful and flexible Drupal convinced numerous new major clients with demanding project plans, including IDG Verlag (community portal), wissen.de (migration and support), Brockhaus Digital (research portal), FlixBus (booking system), and Hubert Burda Media (Thunder integration).

Today, keytec is one of the most experienced and sought-after Drupal agencies in the German-speaking region, participates as a sponsor and speaker at Drupal camps and conferences, and actively drives the continuous development of the globally distributed open-source system as an Organization Member of the Drupal Association.

2000

keytec was founded at the turn of the millennium and moved into office space at Ammersee. The founding members are Christian Wiedemann and Patrick Konstantin. Initial customers include Siemens AG and numerous medium-sized enterprises.

2001

keytec develops a CMS for Messe München. The CMS (Content Key 2) was based on ASP and SQL Server 200. At that time, keytec already offered the complete package of services: analysis, conception, design, implementation, and hosting.

2003

Development of the browser game "PlaNet BTS" for SIEMENS AG. New development on Oracle and PHP commissioned by Messe München. In parallel, the open-source frameworks phpCube and OMSCube were created.

2004

keytec vacates the office at Ammersee and moves into larger office spaces in Landsberg am Lech.

2005

Migration of the high-traffic page of Messe München to the CMS contentkey developed by keytec, with the introduction of the web analytics tool statkey and the newsletter system mailkey.

2007

Moving to Munich on Blutenburgstraße, a parallel street to Nymphenburgerstraße. The new office spaces were inaugurated with a big celebration.

2008

Keytec undergoes a strategic shift due to modularity and the open-source concept, becoming the leading technical specialized agency for Drupal developments in Munich.

2009

keytec implements a CFO community portal for the IDG Verlag. The project, realized with Drupal 6, was at that time the largest Drupal project for a publisher in Munich.

2012

Migration High-Traffic-Website wissen.de von einem proprietären CMS nach Drupal. Dieses Drupal 7 Projekt der damaligen Bertelsmann Tochter Brockhaus Online wird bis dto betreut.

2013

keytec, in collaboration with the University of Graz, developed the online research portal Brockhaus Online, which at its time was the largest professionally edited reference work in the German-speaking area.

2014

Flixbus goes Drupal. The company, which was awarded the Bavarian Founder Prize in 2014, commissions keytec with the implementation of components for the booking system.

2015

keytec receives the contract for the intranet "Heldennetz," which manages 6,000 mentoring pairs at over 50 locations.

2016

Drupal 8 wird released. Das CMS wächst enorm und wird wesentlich umfangreicher. Zu dieser Zeit ist keytec die erste reine Drupal Agentur Münchens. Ein hervorzuhebender Kunde ist Schär mit schär.com und Subprojekten

2017

Keytec implemented several high-traffic websites for Burda and other international clients using Thunder, the open-source software based on Drupal 8 published by Hubert Burda Media, and has since been a Certified Thunder Integrator (CTI).

2019

keytec was commissioned to set up a Drupal Headless Commerce System for the schwa-medico group. In the same year, keytec acts as a "Gold Sponsor" for the Barcamp (Munich Drupalcamp) and collectively flies to the DrupalCon in Amsterdam.
